| COLLEGE PARK, Md. - East Carolina looks to bounce back from yesterday's setback to No. 19 Delaware, facing Lafayette to close out the Terrapin Classic at the Comcast Center. It will mark the second meeting between the programs as the Pirates picked up a 71-55 win on Nov. 25, 1995 at the Cornell Tournament. Facing its second-straight nationally-ranked opponent, ECU fell 60-40 to the Blue Hens due in large part to a lengthy scoring drought in the first half. East Carolina trailed 35-10 at the break and, despite outscoring Delaware 30-25 in the second stanza, could not overcome the deficit. Sophomore Katie Paschal scored a team-best eight points, matching her career high. On the glass, Britny Edwards corralled nine rebounds to go along with six points. Four ECU players recorded a blocked shot as the teams matched each other with four apiece. A cold 26-percent performance from the floor doomed the Pirates in the game, even after they shot 44 percent in the second half. Delaware held the upper hand on the glass at 55-34, including 17 offensive rebounds off which it scored 13 second-chance points. East Carolina committed just 12 turnovers in the contest but the Blue Hens limited themselves to just 10. ECU did have an advantage in bench play, scoring 24 points as compared to nine for UD. In the Leopards' contest against the Terrapins, Emily Homan led all scorers and matched her career high with 13 points. Homan added four rebounds to her game-high scoring output. Samantha Jordan came off the bench and contributed eight points and six boards. Kristan Liddle and Linnel Macklin each added four points, Madeline Fahan chipped in with three, and Danielle Fiacco and Brya Freeland rounded out the offense with two points apiece. Liddle dished out a team-high three assists. Lafayette was outworked on the glass, 55-29, by the nation's top rebounding team. Maryalnd posted 17 second-chance points as well as 28 points off of 22 Leopard turnovers. After today's contest, East Carolina will close non-conference play with a Jan. 2 matchup at defending MEAC champion Hampton. Tipoff between the two Pirate programs is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the HU Convocation Center.
