GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina baseball team’s series opener at No. 10 Virginia Friday has been changed from a 3:00 p.m. start time to 5:00 p.m. due to the forecast of inclement weather earlier in the day.
The Pirates (3-0) dropped two-of-three to the Cavaliers last season in Greenville, but own a 19-18 advantage in the all-time series. In program history, ECU is 3-3 when facing the nation’s 10th-ranked squad.
East Carolina is scheduled to send Seth Maness (1-0/1.29 ERA) to the mound Friday, while the Cavaliers (4-0) are likely to counter with Danny Hultzen (1-0/1.34 ERA). In Maness’ 2011 debut against Youngstown State last Friday, he posted his 29th career win, which stands tied for third on ECU’s all-time list and fourth on the Conference USA career ledger.
