
Pirate Men's Tennis Defeats Richmond, 4-2

GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina used four singles wins, three coming in convincing fashion, to post a 4-2 non-conference men's tennis victory over Richmond on Saturday at the ECU Tennis Complex. In the interest of time, singles matches were played first and the doubles point was not contested.
The win improved the Pirates' record to 8-2, while Richmond fell to 4-8.
Jaroslav Horvath picked up a three-set victory over A.J. Nelson at No. 3 (6-1, 3-6, 6-2) after Joran Vliegen, John Schmitt and Stian Tvedt each recorded straight set wins at No. 4, 5 and 6, respectively.
Vliegen didn't lose a game at No. 4 to Justin Baker, blanking his foe, 6-0, 6-0. Schmitt defeated Dylan Schrode 6-1, 6-3 at No. 5 after Tvedt had disposed of Pablo Arana 6-0,6-1 at No. 6.
The Spiders' pair of triumphs came at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions as Sebastien Fauchet outlasted Massimo Mannino 6-3, 4-6, 10-4 at No. 1 and Jesse Feder won a hard fought match over Henrik Skalmerud at No. 2 (4-6, 6-2, 10-5).
The Pirates' concluded its three-match weekend Sunday as they take on Conference USA rival Memphis at noon.
