GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina completes the Conference USA regular season Sunday with an 11:00 a.m. contest against Houston (35-15, 15-5 C-USA). The Pirates (34-18, 14-9 C-USA) will honor seniors Sissy Jimenez and Toni Paisley before the start of their final regular-season home game.

Continuing To Climb The Strikeout Chart
With nine strikeouts versus Houston Saturday, Paisley pushed her career total to 1,214. The nine also moved her into sole possession of 24th on the NCAA Division I all-time list. She trails Brandice Balschmiter of Massachusetts (2006-09) by four for 23rd on the chart.
This season, Paisley is averaging 9.4 strikeouts per game and is likely to make at least four more starts. At her current rate, that would give Paisley 37 additional strikeouts. Those whiffs would push her to 21st on the NCAA career list.
And The Career Wins Ladder
Paisley's win last Saturday at UTEP was the 112th of her career, giving her sole possession of 27th on the NCAA Division I record chart. Entering Sunday's game, Paisley's career record sits at 112-35, which is a .762 winning percentage.
Debuting At Better Than 30-30-30
Freshman Kristi Oshiro has been an important cog in the Pirate offense all season, tallying a team second-best 46 hits and squad highs with 33 runs and 33 walks. She joins Angel Barrella (46 H/32 R/30 BB) in 2009 as the only ECU players to have more than 30 in all three categories since the start of the 2006 season.
Converting Her Opportunities
Sophomore Kai Clark has driven in 11 runs during Conference USA games, the second most on the team. Helping her cause is a 66.7 percent (4-6) conversion rate plating a runner from third with fewer than two outs. Overall for the year, Clark has eight RBI in 13 opportunities (61.5 percent) facing that situation.
A Pinch-Hit Winner
After the Pirates tied last Saturday's series finale at UTEP 1-1 in the top of the fourth, junior Priscilla Velasquez entered to pinch hit with runners on second and third and bounced a single up the middle to plate the game-winning run.
The hit snapped an 0-17 skid for the La Quinta, Calif., product. Her last hit occurred March 19 while serving as the designated player in the opener at Marshall.
Another Three-Base Hit
Freshman Chelsea Kaluhiokalani-Glackin tripled in the fifth inning last Saturday at UTEP to give ECU 13 three-base hits this year, tied with UCF for the most in C-USA. It is also the highest single-season total for the Pirates since hitting 14 in 2007. East Carolina actually has one more triple than home run so far this season.
We Want A Hit, We'll Take A Walk
With three walks Saturday against Houston, ECU has a Conference USA-best 189 free passes this season. The Pirates are averaging 3.6 walks a game and have drawn the fifth most bases on balls in a year in program history. The East Carolina record of 235 free passes was set by the 2005 squad. That club, however, played 74 games and averaged 3.2 walks per contest.
The Nation's Leader
With the release of the most recent NCAA Division I softball statistics, through April 24 games, Paisley is the nation's leader in solo shutouts this season with 14.
... And Frequently Among The Top 15
At the time of the NCAA stats release, through April 24 games, Paisley also ranked among the top 15 in Division I in victories (4th/26), total strikeouts (5th/311), earned run average (7th/1.05), hits allowed per seven innings (10th/3.95) and walks allowed per seven innings (13th/1.18).
Paisley and junior Faith Sutton had combined to post the eighth-best earned run average among Division I programs at 1.47.
