No. 23 East Carolina (39-19) will open Charlottesville Regional play Friday night when it takes on St. John's (35-20) at 6 p.m. (EDT) at Davenport Field.
The Pirates, who are making their 11th appearance in the last 13 years and 25th overall, will send right-hander Mike Wright (6-3, 2.84 ERA) to the hill against left-hander Sean Hagan (6-2, 4.55 ERA). ECU enters regional play having won 12 of its last 15 games and is making its first appearance since 2009.
