
ECU Men's Tennis Host Two Matches This Weekend

GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina University men's tennis hosts Liberty and Georgia Southern this weekend following last weekend's road trip to Memphis. The Pirates will take on Liberty on Friday at 2:30 p.m. on the outdoor courts and then face Georgia Southern Sunday morning at 11 a.m. at the ECU Indoor Tennis Center.
The Pirates carry a 5-2 overall record into this weekend's competition after winning four of its last five matches. Freshman Niels Cleeren leads the team with five singles victories, while four additional player have each posted four triumphs. Junior John Schmitt has the best individual winning percentage on the team (4-1, .800).
ECU is unbeaten at home this season with a 4-0 record. The Pirates blanked Barton College, 7-0, defeated Norfolk State and Mount Olive each by a score of 6-1 and took down Kennesaw State, 4-2. They haven't lost the doubles point at home this year.
Liberty has an overall record of 2-1, but is winless against ECU. The Pirates have taken all five of the previous match-ups, including last year's 5-2 victory at the Greenbrier Resort. The Flames will also face Georgia Southern here Saturday.
Georgia Southern will arrive in Greenville with a 1-4 record. Sunday's meeting will mark the first between the Pirates and the Eagles.
