ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Yilian Zhang and Danielle Terpko's 9-8 victory in a No. 1 doubles match enabled East Carolina to clinch the first point before the Lady Pirates added five singles wins, including a quartet in two sets, to race past UNC Asheville 6-1 in non-conference action Friday afternoon at the Asheville Racquet Club.
East Carolina (4-7) used an 8-2 triumph by No. 3 tandem Dana Gray and Neena Wanko over Jenna Dodge and Amryn Soldier to open pairs play. The Bulldogs drew even after Christine Boissevain and Emily McNall downed Renata Bakieva and Natalie Collins 8-4 to set the stage for Zhang and Terpko to outlast Devon Cavanaugh and Zoe Hamel.
