Pirate Hitter-of-the-Week
Jack Reinheimer, Sophomore, SS
Reinheimer batted a team-best .500 (10-for-20) on the week and helped the Pirates to a pair of wins against nationally-ranked teams (No. 11 N.C. State and No. 19 UCF) ... On the week he recorded a base hit in all five games (current five-game hit streak) and led the squad in hits (10) and runs (9) while adding a walk, hit by pitch and two sacrifice bunts ... Reinheimer also swiped three bases, drove in one run, slugged .550 and had an on-base percentage of .545 ... Against instate rival No. 11 N.C. State, he was 2-for-2 with a pair of runs, a walk and two sacrifice bunts and reached base four times ... He singled in his first two at-bats, walked and then reached on a fielder's choice sac bunt, where he scored the game-winning run ... Against High Point he was 1-for-4 and hit by a pitch ... In the first two games of the opening C-USA series against No. 19 UCF, he was 2-or-8 with a pair of runs scored ... In the series finale, on national television, Reinheimer collected a career-best five hits and scored a career-best five runs ... He finished the game 5-for-6 with an RBI, a double and swiped a pair of bases ... After flying out to start the game, he reached base in five consecutive at-bats (four singles, double) and scored all five times, including the game winner in the seventh frame ... On the season, Reinheimer increased his batting average to .293 (27-for-92) with eight RBI, 15 runs scored, two home runs and three doubles.

Jharel Cotton, Junior, RHP
Cotton picked up his team and Conference USA best fifth win of the season against No. 19 UCF on national television ... The right-hander fanned a career-best 11 batters and allowed a pair of runs in seven innings pitched ... He retired the lead off batter in six of seven innings and the first five were retired by strikeout ... Ten of his 11 punch outs were swinging and in four of the seven frames, the final batter was retired by a strikeout... He allowed two extra base hits (double, home run) ... Cotton retired 10 of the first 13 hitters faced, with seven of those coming via a strikeout ... He retired the side in order twice ... On the season he boasts a 2.29 ERA with 30 strikeouts to just nine walks, while allowing 13 runs (nine earned) on 35 hits in 35.1 innings.
PIRATENOTES
? ECU's pitching staff posted a 5.14 ERA allowing 33 runs (24 earned) on 15 walks with 34 strikeouts during its 2-3 week ... On the season as a whole, they sport a 3.40 ERA in 204.0 innings with 161 strikeouts and 72 walks ... In 23 games, ECU has allowed 100 runs (77 earned) and are holding opposing hitters to a composite .247 batting average ... The bullpen has allowed 39 runs (27 earned) on 66 hits in 79.1 innings with a 3.06 ERA.
? Junior John Wooten batted a team second-best .429 (9-for-21) on the week and extended his current hit streak to 10 games ... Wooten ranked second on the team in hits (9) and runs ( 4) and drove in three runs, while recording three walks ... During his current hit streak he is batting .386 (17-for-44) with a home run, four RBI, 11 runs scored and three walks ... He has also has five multi-hit games ... In five games last week he collected three multi-hit games ... Wooten has raised his average to .318 (27-for-85) with three home runs and 10 RBI ... Currently he leads the team with 19 runs, while sharing the team lead in hits (27).
? Senior Kevin Brandt suffered his second loss of the season despite tossing his third career complete game in the Conference USA opener at No. 19 UCF ... The southpaw allowed two runs (one earned) scattering six hits over eight frames ... He struck out three batters while issuing a pair of walks ... For Brandt, it was his sixth quality start of the season ... On the season he owns a 3-2 record and sports a 1.65 ERA, which ranks fifth in C-USA ... Brandt has allowed 12 runs (eight earned) on 34 hits with 31 strikeouts to just 10 walks in 43.2 innings and is holding opposing hitters to a .219 composite average.
? Andy Smithmyer notched his second win of the season picking up the victory against No. 11 N.C. State in relief ... The junior hurler recorded a season-high five strikeouts against the Wolfpack working three scoreless frames ... Against No. 19 UCF he worked another inning of relief allowing a pair of runs (unearned) on three base knocks with a punch out ... In two outings on the week, he tallied six strikeouts, allowed two runs (both unearned) on four hits in four innings ... This season Smithmyer has appeared in eight games recording 19 strikeouts in 17.1 innings ... He has allowed six runs (two earned) on 15 hits and boasts a 1.04 ERA.
? Drew Reynolds had his nine-game hitting streak snapped during Friday night's C-USA opener at No. 19 UCF ... But the sophomore DH rebounded picking up a hit in the final two games of the series ... He has registered a base knock in 11 of his last 12 games where he is batting .396 (19-for-48) with five doubles, seven RBI, four runs and seven multi-hit games ... On the season he leads the club with a .379 (22-for-58) average with a home run, seven RBI and four runs scored ... As a pitcher, Reynolds has appeared in 11 games where he has recorded a team and league-best seven saves and also owns a 1-0 record with a 4.35 ERA.
? Zach Wright has a team-best 13 RBI and recorded at least one hit in 10 of his last 11 games ... Currently he is in the midst of a five-game hitting streak ... On the season is batting .253 (20-for-79) with a home run, six doubles, 13 runs and 15 RBI.
? Head Coach Billy Godwin recorded his 495th career and 233rd Pirate win on Sunday against No. 19 UCF ... He ranks second all-time on ECU's wins list and trails only ECU Hall of Famer Gary Overton (427).
