GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina Pirates (20-12-1, 6-3 American) hope to keep their win streak going against the Duke Blue Devils (21-13, 7-8 ACC) as they host for the final game of their five-game homestand on Tuesday evening. Â
KNOCKOUT WEEKEND FOR THE PIRATES
The Pirates gave a blowout performance over the last week, moving through with a week now with a four-game win streak, with the purpose of showing what East Carolina can do. Â
East Carolina secured a commanding 14-8 victory over UNCW on March 31 at Clark-LeClair Stadium, utilizing a balanced offensive attack to overcome a late-inning surge by the Seahawks. After a quiet start, the Pirates broke the game open with a four-run fourth inning followed by three more in the fifth, highlighted by a bases-clearing double from Grady Lenahan and productive situational hitting from Davin Whitaker. Â
While the Seahawks managed to pull within a single run by the top of the eighth, the Pirates responded immediately with a six-run bottom half to seal the win. Lenahan finished the night just a triple shy of the cycle with five RBIs, leading a 14-hit effort that saw consistent contributions across the lineup and earned Gavin Marley his first win of the season.Â
East Carolina completed a dominant weekend sweep of Charlotte at Clark-LeClair Stadium, outscoring the 49ers 39-16 across three games. The series opened on Thursday with a 12-2 run-rule victory fueled by a six-run second inning and a standout performance from Whitaker, who tallied five RBIs, including a triple and a home run.
Â
Friday's contest proved to be the most competitive, as the Pirates overcame an early 7-2 deficit to win 12-9. The comeback was sparked by a steady middle-inning rally and punctuated by Alex Bouche's two-run home run in the eighth to provide necessary insurance. Â
The Pirates capped off the weekend on Saturday with a convincing 15-5 victory, setting the tone immediately with an 11-run first inning highlighted by a Jack Herring two-run homer. Throughout the series, the lineup showed immense depth, with key contributions from Lenahan, Colby Wallace, and Braden Burress, while the pitching staff combined for timely strikeouts and effective relief, helping the team move to 6-3 in American Conference play.Â
Going into this week, the Pirates had scored 53 runs on 56 hits over the past four games, with the 11-run inning the second-most in program history. Â
TOUCHING BASE
Jack Herring is currently on a 32-game on-base streak for the Pirates, now being one of 18 Pirates to have reached base in at least 30 games since 1998. Currently tied with Adam Witter (2003-6) and Trevor Lawhorn (2002-05) at 32, the longest on-base streak the Pirates hold is 56, held by Connor Norby from March 1, 2020, to May 20, 2021.Â
LEANING ON LENAHAN
Grady Lenahan showed off discipline and firepower throughout the week for the Pirates. Lenahan played a major role in that production, hitting an impressive .600 (9-for-15) across the four games while scoring seven runs and driving in eight. He also tallied his second triple of the season and launched his sixth career home run against UNCW on March 30. Â Lenahan received Conference Player of the Week on April 6 for his consistency and power throughout the lineup. Â
CG FOR THE WIN
Friday's 12-2 victory against Charlotte marked head coach Cliff Godwin's 450th career win as a Pirate. Godwin became the most winning coach in East Carolina history, passing coach Gary Overton in May of 2025 with 432 wins.Â

ULTIMATE REMATCH
The last time East Carolina faced Duke was in Blue Devil Territory, where the Blue Devils walked off Jack Coombs Field on March 24 with an 8-9 victory. The loss on that Tuesday marked the fourth straight loss that the Pirates have faced from the Blue Devils in the past three years. Tuesday's series finale will give East Carolina the opportunity to even out the odds for their 2026 campaign. Â
Before the drought, the Pirates held a tight grip on the midweeks against Duke from 2015 to 2022, going 11-1 overall. Â
ABOUT DUKE
Since the midweek clash with the Pirates on March 24, Duke has posted a 5-3 record, navigating a challenging road series and a high-stakes homestand. After dropping two of three in Tallahassee against Florida State, including a narrow one-run loss, the Blue Devils regained their footing with a dominant Sunday victory. They returned home to handle Davidson in a high-scoring midweek affair before clinching a crucial ACC series win over Louisville. Although they dropped the series' finale to the Cardinals this past Saturday, the Blue Devils have won four of their last five contests, driven by an offense that is averaging nearly eight runs per game over the last two weeks.Â
First pitch for the series finale against Duke is set for April 7 at 6:00 p.m. EST. Â
