South Carolina (286-284) and Virginia (292-278) are tied for the lead at 10-over 560 followed by Clemson in third-place at 11-over 571 (286-285). The Tigers are the highest ranked team in field at No. 13 in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin Ratings. The Cavliers are ranked 35th, while co-tournament leader South Carolina is 69th.
The Pirates, rated 45th through March 4 rankings, are six strokes ahead of No. 34 Liberty (291-290=581) and No. 50 Augusta State (299-282=581) which are tied for fifth at 21-over. ECU leads 27th-ranked Chattanooga (294-289=583) by eight strokes. The Mocs are in sevneth-place at 23-over.
The low-scoring individual for ECU was senior David Watkins, who is tied for third at 1-over 141 (70-71). Senior Harold Varner was tied for the individual lead after the initial 18 holes, but dropped into a tied for 22nd after shooting 7-over in round two and sits at 6-over 146 (69-77) after 36 holes.
Senior Adam Stephenson(76-71) and sophomore Ryan Eibner (77-70) are tied for 33rd at 7-over 147. The newest member of the team, Eric Brady, who transferred from Duke prior the start of the 2012 Spring semester, is tied for 42nd at 8-over 142 (75-73). Ben Kohles (69-70) of Virginia and Crawford Reeves (69-70) of Clemson are tied for the individual lead at 139.
The third and final round of the 15th Annual Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate will commence at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
