
Pirates Tied For Fourth At Bayou City Championships

The Pirates carded a 2-over par 290 in Friday's first round to put themselves five shots behind 2012 NCAA Men's Golf Champion and tournament leader Texas at 3-under 285. Baylor sits one stroke behind the Longhorns in second-place at 2-under 286, followed by Charlotte in third at 1-over 289. Chattanooga and Texas-Arlington are tied with ECU for fourth.
Freshman Grayson Murray posted a 2-under 70 Friday to put him into a tie for ninth-place, three shots behind individual leader Brax McCarthy of Texas. Juniors Eric Bray and Ryan Eibner are six shots back of McCarthy in a tie for 27th-place after each carded a 1-over 73 in round one. Senior Zach Edmondson finished one stroke back of his junior teammates at 2-over, tied for 41st. Freshman Jacob Hicks finished at 7-over 79.
The tournament continues Saturday morning with the second round. ECU will tee off No. 1, beginning at 10:45 a.m. CT, Saturday, with Hicks. From there, the lineup continues with Edmondson (10:54 a.m.), Eibner (11:03 a.m.), Brady (11:12 a.m.) and Murray (11:21 a.m.). The Pirates will be playing alongside Chattanooga and UT-Arlington.
