Pirates Conclude Play At Wake Forest Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. ---The East Carolina men's tennis team concluded its third tournament of the season at the 2014 Wake Forest Fall Invitational on Sunday, Oct. 12.
Senior Damein Brenard and Nicolas Soriano teamed up to win the A1 Doubles Consolation Flight with an 8-6 win over Davidson's duo of Jack Riazzi and Evan Watkins. Ross Nigro and Fredric Lehfeldt were crowned B1 Doubles Consolation Flight winners as the tandem from North Carolina was forced to withdraw prior to the match due to injury.
In singles action, Soriano finished as runner-up in the B2 Singles Consolation bracket, falling to Wake Forest's Anthony Delcore 6-4, 7-5. Nigro defeated Tennessee Tech's Othon Lima in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0 to claim 11th place in the C1 Singles bracket. Brenard also finished 11th in the A1 Singles Flight after his opponent from South Carolina State withdrew. Lehfeldt fell in straight sets to Elon's Jordan Kaufman in the opening match of the 13th-place bracket 6-3, 6-1.
The Pirates return to action Oct. 16 at the ITA Carolinas Region Championships in Cary, N.C.
