Pirates Continue Play At Wake Forest Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. --- The East Carolina men's tennis squad wrapped up day two action on Saturday at the 2014 Wake Forest Invitational.
In singles, senior Damien Brenard dropped Princeton Perry from N.C. A&T in straight sets 6-0, 6-0 in the A11 consolation quarterfinals, but fell to Chris Van der Burgh of UNC Wilmington, 6-1, 6-2 in the semifinals. In the B1 bracket, Fredric Lehfeldt fell to Nicholas Osterling from Wake Forest in the consolation quarterfinals. Nicolas Soriano defeated Alvaro Cintats of Tennessee Tech 6-3, 6-3 then topped Sam Williams of UNC-Wilmington in three sets 3-6, 7-5, 7-5 to advance to the B2 consolation finals. Ross Nigro defeated Soufiane Mouline from South Carolina State in straight sets but fell to North Carolina's Chad Haskins in C2 consolation semifinals.
In doubles action, Brenard and Soriano defeated Calvin Mark and Aries Wong from Navy to advance to the A1 doubles consolation bracket on Sunday. Lehfeldt and Nigro also advanced to the consolation finals from the A3 bracket following an 8-4 victory over Shamael Chaudhry and Zach Zapatero of Davidson College.
The Pirates will take the court in Winston-Salem tomorrow for the final day of action in the 2014 Wake Forest Invitational.
