
Pirates Earn 4-3 Win Over UTSA

GREENVILLE, N.C. - Sophomore Colin Roller rallied from a set down to defeat Boburjon Kamilijanov 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 and clinch East Carolina's 4-3 victory over UTSA at the ECU Indoor Tennis Center on Friday. With the win, the Pirates improved to 10-3 overall, while the Roadrunners dropped to 3-5.
East Carolina claimed the doubles point as Miles Holvoet and Patriek Wolterbeek posted an 8-1 win at the No. 3 position with Roller and Joran Vliegen winning 8-5 at the top spot. UTSA's 16th-ranked duo of Joel Rubio and Tomas Stillman defeated Fredric Lehfledt and Damien Brenard, 8-2, on court two.
The Pirates moved ahead 2-0 after Vliegen defeated Yannick Junger on court one 6-2, 7-6 (7-4). The Roadrunners then tied the match with singles victories by Rubio and Diego Casa at positions three and two, respectively. Brenard put East Carolina back on top with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Fabian Brand on court five for a 3-2 edge. Stillman followed with a straight set victory over Lehfeldt at fourth spot to tie match. The focus then moved to court six where Roller scored the match-winning point.
ECU returns to action on March 2 as they host George Washington and Barton in doubleheader. The first match of the day against George Washington is scheduled to start at 12 noon.
