WILMINGTON, N.C. - The East Carolina men's golf team will compete in the Fifth Annual Seahawk Intercollegiate this weekend, March 16-17, at the par-72, 6,761-yard Country Club of Landfall. The Pirates will play alongside Ohio State and Navy in the first two rounds Sunday, teeing off at 9 a.m.
This year's field also includes host UNC Wilmington along with Army, Campbell, Davidson, Delaware, East Tennessee State, Elon, Louisville, South Carolina and Wisconsin. The No. 25 Gamecocks are the only top 50 team in field with five other teams in this week's GolfWeek/Sagarin Rankings.
UNCW captured its second Seahawk Intercollegiate title last March with a rain-shortened 36-hole tournament score of 28-over par. The Seahawks' Payne McLeod claimed individual medalist honors at 1-under. ECU finished a distant 10th in 2013 after winning the team title in 2012. Eric Brady carded a two-round total of 7-over at the event a year ago to finish tied for 10th. He shot a tournament record 67 in the second round of the event two years ago.
The Pirates are coming off a fifth-place finish at the General Hackler Championships earlier in the week. Senior Ryan Eibner posted a 7-over 223 to earn a tie for 14th.
Brady and Eibner will be joined by Wes Conover, Al Dickens and Stephen Lavenets to make up the Pirates' five-man team. Freshman Clay Brown will compete as an individual.
