Men's Golf Stands Second At River Landing Intercollegiate

WALLACE, N.C. - The East Carolina men's golf team stands in second-place after day one of the River Landing Intercollegiate co-hosted by ECU and UNCW at the River Landing Country Club in Wallace, N.C.
During play on Friday, East Carolina shot rounds of 293 and 289 to finish the day in second-place with a 36-hole mark of 582. They are four strokes behind tournament leader VCU (287-291=578)and seven shots ahead of third-place Tulsa (299-290=589). Winthrop is in fourth-place with a 593 (289-304) followed by Maryland in fifth-place at 595 (294-301).
Three Pirates rank among the top-10. Sophomore Wes Conover is tied for second-place after shooting a two round score of 2-under 142 (69-73) on Friday. He is one stroke behind individual leader Adam Bell of VCU, who shot a 3-under 141. Sophomore Jacob Hicks is in sixth-place after posting a par-144 (73-71), while senior Eric Brady is tied for eighth-place at 2-over 146 (74-72). Sophomore Al Dickens is in 29th-place at 8-over 152 (79-73) with fellow sophomore George Kilgore tied for 43rd at 11-over 155 (77-78).
Sophomore Stephen Lavenets is competing as an individual and is tied for 16th-place at 4-over 148 (75-73) with freshman Clay Brown, also playing as an individual, tied for 19th at 5-over (76-73) 38th place at 153. Josh Chandler fired a 15-over 159 (75-84) to tie for 56th.
The third and final round of the tournament will begin Saturday morning with a fixed tee start at 7:30 a.m. East Carolina will play alongside VCU and Winthrop with Kilgore teeing off first at 8:30 a.m. followed by Dickens, Brady, Hicks and Conover in 10-minute intervals.
