
Reynolds Named To Third-Straight C-USA All-Academic Team

IRVING, Texas - East Carolina senior Drew Reynolds was has been named to the 2014 Conference USA All-Academic Team for the third-straight year, as selected by the league's baseball sports information directors. In order to be eligible for the recognition, student-athletes must hold a 3.2 cumulative grade point average, be of at least sophomore academic standing and be a starter or key reserve for their team.
Reynolds, the Pirates designated hitter and closer, is a four-time C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll member (2011-14), a 2011 C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal Winner and a seven-time ECU Director of Athletics Honor Roll recipient. He holds a 3.52 cumulative GPA and is expected to graduate in December of 2014 with a bachelor's degree in physical education.
A native of Cherryville, N.C., Reynolds is batting a team second-best .324 (71-for-219) with a home run, eight doubles, 20 RBI and 31 runs scored. On the mound he owns a 4-2 record with a 2.22 ERA and five saves. In the 2014 LeClair Classic, Reynolds became the school's all-time saves leader breaking Seth Simmons (2008-11) record of 26 and has currently saved 29 career games.
The Pirates (32-24) are in Hattiesburg, Miss. for the 2014 Conference USA Championships, which will be played at Pete Taylor Park. As the sixth seed, ECU will square off against tournament host and No. 3 seed Southern Miss (32-23) on Wednesday, May 21 at 8:30 p.m. (ET).
