Pirates Open Play At Elon Invitational

ELON, N.C. --- The East Carolina University men's tennis team opened play at the 2014 Elon Fall Invitational Tournament Friday with singles competition.
Junior Tendai Tapfuma was the lone ECU player to post a win Friday, defeating Old Dominion's David Botti in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1.
Freshman Kasey Countee came up on the short end of a tiebreaker decision falling in three sets to Nazhone Wilkins of UNCG 7-6 (8), 6-7 (0), 10-4. Ross Nigro and Patriek Wolterbeek each fell in straight sets.
. The three-day, 11-team event continues Saturday morning. All matches are being played at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center in Elon.
