Pirates Conclude Play On Day Two Of The Elon Invitational

ELON, N.C. --- The East Carolina University men's tennis team continued play at the Elon Fall Invitational on Saturday at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center, posting six victories on day two of the event.
Senior Patriek Wolterbeek posted a 2-0 record today with a win over Adrien Rossingnon of Campbell in his first match before defeating N.C. Central's Dan Gerasimov in his second match.
Wolterbeek team up with Tendai Tapfuma and the duo advanced to the semifinals of A2 Doubles Draw with an opening round victory over N.C. Central's tandem of Kert Kilumets and William East, 8-1. The ECU team will face a pair from UNC Asheville Sunday morning with a trip to the championship match of the draw at stake.
Tapfuma posted an opening round win Friday to reach Saturday's quarterfinal of the B1 Singles Draw, but fell to Campbell's MC Visser in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2. Tapfuma did bounce back to defeat Brett Landau of UNC Asheville in the consolation round 6-2, 6-0.
Kasey Countee and Ross Nigro each split a pair of consolation round matches before the two paired up for doubles action, suffering two defeats.
The final day of competition will begin tomorrow at 9 a.m. with doubles flights. Remaining singles flights will begin at 11:30 a.m.
