MISCELLANEOUS NOTES
? The victory was the Pirates inaugural American Athletic Conference win and snapped a three-game conference losing streak.
? East Carolina improved to 5-8 all-time against Houston and posted its third straight win over the Cougars inside Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum. ECU Head Coach Jeff Lebo is now 3-1 against Houston.
TEAM NOTES
? The Pirates topped the 60-point plateau for the first time in American Athletic Conference play and the first since 71 against UNCG on Dec. 28, 2014.
? East Carolina limited Houston to 21 first half points. It was the fewest points allowed by the Pirates in a single half this season.
? The Pirates recorded a season-high seven blocked shots. It previous high was three.
? East Carolina held Houston to 34.5 percent shooting from the field. It was the first time it kept its opponent under 35 percent since limiting Fresno State to 32.7 percent on Nov. 25, 2014.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
? B.J. Tyson led the Pirates with 16 points. It was the sixth time this year he was the Pirates' top scoer, tying with Terry Whisnant for the team lead.
? Terry Whisnant scored double figures for the fifth consecutive game, while B.J. Tyson netted double digit points for the third straight contest.
? Marshall Guilmette made the first 3-point field goal of his career. It was his second attempt of the season and of his career.
? Caleb White scored double figures for the first time in 2015 as he finished with 14 points. His last double figure scoring game was Dec. 31, 2014 against Tulane, dropping in 11 points.
? Tyson, Whisnant and White each scored double figures in the same game for the seventh time this season and the Pirates improved to 4-3 in those games. The trio is averaging a combined 38.9 points per game this season.
? Whisnant recorded his seventh game of the year with three or more 3-point field goals. He connected on 3-of-8 behind the arc tonight.
? Antonio Robinson tied his season-high in scoring with eight points.
