December 12, 2015 | Men's Basketball
GREENVILLE, N.C. --- East Carolina returns home to Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum to host North Carolina A&T in a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. The Pirates are coming off a four-point loss at College of Charleston, while the Aggies have won four straight.
The intrastate foes are meeting for second time in three years and the fourth time overall. Each of the three previous meetings also took place in Greenville with the Pirates posting an 84-71 win during the Aggies last visit in 2013.
Fans are encouraged to take advantage of the Sunday Saver Ticket Special which includes four tickets and $20 worth of concession vouchers for $40. Additional tickets can be purchased for $10 each with a $5 concessions voucher.
After winning three in a row, East Carolina (5-4) had its overall streak snapped Monday, but it still owns a nine-game non-conference winning streak at home. The Pirates are 4-0 on their home floor this season, averaging 76.2 points per game and shooting 49.8 percent from the field, including 35.2 percent outside the arc. ECU has an average margin of victory of nearly 15 points at home this season.
Sophomore B.J. Tyson leads the Pirates with 13.7 points per game followed by junior Caleb White (12.3) and freshman Kentrell Barkley (10.7). Tyson has scored double figures in five straight games, raising his scoring average by nearly six points from 7.8 through the first four games.
White has scored double figures in four consecutive games and is shooting 40.0 (8-20) outside the 3-point line in those contests.
Barkley, the team's leading rebounder with 6.9 boards per contest, posted his first double-double Monday in Charleston with 22 points and 10 rebounds after scoring 18 points and grabbing nine rebounds against USC Upstate three days earlier.
The Aggies (4-7) defeated Maryland-Eastern Shore for their fourth straight win Monday as four players scored double figures. Kinston native Joshea Singleton lead N.C. A&T with 24 points, while Sam Hunt added 16 and Aggies' leading scorer Bruce Beckford had 14.
Beckford, who averages a team-best 16.5 points per game, is also the Aggies' leading rebounder with 7.5 boards per contest. Hunt is the only other player to average double figures with 13.4 per night.
North Carolina A&T is still searching for its first road win of the season.
