
Pirates Lose 6-1 At Navy

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The East Carolina men's tennis team fell to Navy 6-1 Saturday at the Tose Family Tennis Center. The Pirates fell to 1-5 overall while the Midshipmen improved to 5-1 on the season.
The lone ECU win came from senior Damien Brenard at the No. 4 position where he defeated Blake Daniel in straight sets, 7-6 (7-5), 6-2.
The Pirates dropped the No.1 and No. 2 doubles matches to Navy, which took a 1-0 advantage into singles action. Nicolas Soriano forced a deciding third set after dropping the opening set, but fell at the No. 1 position to Calvin Mark . Freshman Kasey Countee won his opening set from the No. 5 spot against Walker Sims, but was unable to hold off his opponent and fell in three sets. ECU's Tendai Tapfuma, Fredric Lehfeldt and Ross Nigro all fell in straight sets to the Midshipmen.
The ECU men's tennis team continues spring action on the road at Georgia Southern, Feb. 7 at 1 p.m. in Statesboro, Ga.
