Pirates Fall To 15th At The Hayt After Two Rounds

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. --- The East Carolina men's golf team dropped to 15th place at The Hayt after finishing with a team 316, just one-over the 315 turned in during the first round. The third and final round will be played Sunday at the Sawgrass Country Club.
Junior Wes Conover carded a team-low 2-over 74 today to finish with a two round total of 154. He had had four birdies in the round, but a double bogey and a triple bogey on two par fours pushed him over par. His younger brother, Tim, carded a 9-over 81 Saturday and is four strokes behind the elder Conover at 158.
The junior trio of Jacob Hicks, Nick Thompson and George Kilgore are all within one stroke of each other. Hicks has a two-day total of 160, while Thompson has a score of 161 and Kilgore has fired a 162.
Texas leads the 15-team tournament with a 5-over 581 heading into the final round. The Longhorns' Beau Hossler leads the field at 2-under 142.
