LAKE WORTH, Fla. --- The East Carolina men's golf team is in a five-way tie for second place through two rounds at the FAU Slomin Autism Invitational at 15-over 583 after posting the lowest score of the second round with a 288 to move up nine places from its first round standing.
Junior Wes Conover leads the Pirates after firing a pair of 70s, putting him at 2-under 140 through 36 holes, tying for third-place with 18 holes to play.
Junior George Kilgore shot an even-par 71 Saturday to move from 30th to ninth-place through two rounds at 2-over 144. Junior Jacob Hicks carded an 8-over 150 (73-77) to tie for 51st, while junior Nick Thompson is one stroke behind his teammate at 9-over 151(79-72) to tie for 62nd. Redshirt junior Al Dickens sits at 12-over 154 (79-75).
The Pirates are 11 strokes behind American Athletic Conference rival UCF, which finished the day with a 4-over 572 562 (279-293). The Knights' Ryan Stovash leads Derron Peyton of FAU on the individual leaderboard by one after turning in a 7-under 135 (67-68).
Third round play begins Sunday morning at 8 a.m. with the Pirates playing alongside Eastern Michigan, Georgetown and Arkansas State.
