Pirates In Fifth At The Irish Creek Collegiate

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. - After two rounds of golf at the Club at Irish Creek, the East Carolina men's golf team is currently in fifth place at the Irish Creek Collegiate, with two golfers in the top-10 overall.
The Pirates shot rounds of 287 and 282 for a team total of 569 strokes on Saturday, trailing day one leader North Florida by eight strokes. The Ospreys fired a 7-under-par 561 to lead second-place Kennesaw State (563) by two strokes and third-place Charlotte (567) by six strokes. USF sits in fourth-place at par-568.
ECU junior George Kilgore and sophomore Jackson Spires, who is playing in his first tournament of the season, are tied for seventh-place at 2-under-par 140. Kilgore, who led the Pirates with 10 birdies Saturday, shot rounds of 71 and 69, while Spires turned in scorecards of 72 and 68.
Wes Conover is tied for 22nd at 2-over-par 144 as he shot 1-over-par 72 in each round. Jacob Hicks sits one stroke behind his teammate at 3-over-par 145 (72-73) with Al Dickens tied for 53rd at 7-over-par 149.
The overall individual lead belongs to Kennesaw State's Fredrik Nilehn at 8-under-par 134.
The third round begins Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start. The Pirates will play alongside USF and VCU.
