
ECU Picks Up Road Win At Campbell, 7-5

GREENVILLE, N.C. - Hunter Allen and Jackson Mims each recorded three hits, while Charlie Yorgen drove in a pair helping East Carolina (20-13) to a 7-5 win over Campbell (24-8) Tuesday night at Jim Perry Stadium.
Jacob Wolfe (2-1) notched the win working five-plus frames allowing three runs (all earned) on five hits with three strikeouts and a walk. Reid Love recorded his fourth save of the season surrendering a run (earned) on three hits in the ninth inning. The Pirates used three hurlers in Jimmy Boyd (1.1 IP, 2 H, 1 BB, 1 K), Joe Ingle (0.2 IP, 1 R, 2 BB) and Nick Durazo (1.0 IP, 1 BB, 1 K) to bridge the gap between Wolfe and Love.
Travis Long (3-1) suffered his first loss of the year giving up three runs (two earned) on five hits with a walk in a pre-determined two innings of work. Andrew Witczack pitched five innings of relief also allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits with three free passes and four punch-outs. Bobby Thorson allowed a run (unearned) on two hits with two strikeouts in two frames.
ECU out-hit Campbell 12 to 10 on the night getting multiple base knocks from Allen (3), Reid Love (2), Mims (3) and Yorgen (2). Allen scored a team-high two runs, while five other crossed home once. Mims and Tyler joined Yorgen with RBI in the contest.
Seven of Campbell's starting nine registered hits with Dustin Krob, Seth LaRue and Steven Leonard led the way with two hits apiece. LaRue drove in a pair of runs, while Leonard scored twice.

ECU will continue its four-game road trip this weekend heading south to face USF in a three-game American Athletic Conference series beginning Friday, Apr. 10 at 6:30 p.m. (ET). Game two of the series is Saturday, Apr. 11 at 6:30 followed by the series finale on Sunday, Apr. 11 at 12:30 p.m.
How It Happened:
ECU strung together four-straight two-out hits in the top of the second taking an early 3-0 and never trailed on the night. Mims, Allen and Love all singled with two away before Yorgen singled to left center scoring Mims and Allen before Love slid across home on a throwing error by Cole Hallum.
Matt Parrish scored Campbell's first run belting a solo home run to left field in the second inning pulling the Camels within two, 3-1.
The Pirates continue to hit around the Camels pitching in the third scoring a pair of runs on three base knocks extending their lead to 5-1. Eric Tyler doubled home Bryce Harman from first and then he came around to score on Mims second hit of the night, a single up the middle.
LaRue's two-out two-RBI single in the bottom of the third closed the gap to two, 5-3. Krob singled to start the frame which was followed by a Cedric Mullins walk before both runners moved 90 feet on Drew Butler's sac bunt to third. LaRue singled up the middle plating both Krob and Mullins.
ECU added a pair in the seventh when Lowery reached on an error by Kyle Leady at first base padding its lead to 7-3. Allen walked to get things going before Yogen laced a one-out single to right center. Both came around to score when Lowery reached for the fourth time in the game.
Campbell added runs in the eight and ninth frames capping the scoring at 7-5.

ECU recorded seven two-out hits in the game (108 on season) which led to six runs pushing its season total to 80 ... Campbell had five two-out hits and was 3-for-10 with RISP ... The Pirates advanced runners at a 46.2 percent clip (12-for-26), while the Camels moved runners around at a 44.4 percent (8-for-18) ... ECU left 13 runners on base compared to Campbell's 10 ... ECU's 12 hits marked the 15th time this season it has tallied double-digit hits.

All three of Mims' hits came with two outs ... Love pushed his hit streak to seven games with a leadoff double to right center to start the game ... With his RBI double in the third inning, Tyler extended his on-base streak to eight games ... Yorgen now has four multi-RBI games on the season, while his two hits pushed his yearly total to eight multi-hit contests ... Harman scored his team-leading 27th run in the third frame.
