
ECU Finishes Ninth At NCAA Noblesville Regional

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. - East Carolina junior Wes Conover shot a final-round, 3-under-par 69 to lead the Pirates' men's golf team to a ninth-place finish at the NCAA Noblesville Regional on Saturday, bringing the 2014-15 campaign to an end at the Sagamore Golf Club.
East Carolina fired a three-day total of 31-over-par 895(306-293-296), one stroke behind Virginia Tech for eighth-place.
Illinois and SMU shared the team title with a 54-hole score of 4-under-par 860. UNLV finished third at 1-under-par followed by UCLA in fourth and Oregon in fifth-place. By finishing in the top five at the regional, those teams will move on to the NCAA Championship finals, which will be played May 29-June 3 at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla.
Conover was the Pirates' tournament leader carding a three-round score of par-220 (75-72-69) to finish tied for 11th. Freshman Tim Conover fired a 4-over-par 76 Saturday to finish at 6-over-par 222 (74-72-76), tied for 27th-place.
Redshirt freshman Jackson Spires finished in a tie for 53rd after carding a final-round 80. Spires shot a three-round score of 14-over-par 230 (76-74-80). Junior Al Dickens finished alone in 56th with a score of 15-over-par 231 (81-75-75), while fellow junior George Kilgore tied for 63rd at 21-over-par 237 (82-79-76).
Illinois' Brian Campbell won medalist honors at the NCAA Noblesville Regional with a 10-under-par 206, while Colorado's David Oraee earned the individual advancing spot.
