East Carolina's Season Comes to an End Against USF

ORLANDO, Fla. - The No. 4 seed East Carolina softball team suffered a 5-0 loss against No. 5 seed USF in the quarterfinals of the American Athletic Conference Tournament Thursday evening at the UCF Softball Complex.
The Pirates conclude their season with a 16-37 overall record and a 7-11 league mark, while the Bulls improve to 36-19 on the year.
Sophomore right-hander Lydia Ritchie (4-8) got the start and pitched her seventh complete game of the season while allowing four earned runs on 11 hits with two strikeouts and a walk.
Ritchie kept the Pirates in the game early on as she allowed one run in the second and one in the sixth. However, ECU was unable to plate a run as it left 12 runners on base.
USF broke the game open in the seventh when it tallied three runs on as many hits, while taking advantage of a pair of East Carolina errors.
Sam Greiner (9-5) earned the start for the Bulls and collected the victory after throwing 4.1 innings while allowing five hits, fanning three and walking one.
The Pirates recorded six hits in the game and freshman designated player Mary-Sloan Bradford led the ECU offense going 2-for-3 with a hit by pitch. Senior catcher Abby Wynne, sophomore first baseman Ali Ramirez and senior second baseman Andie Johnson each registered a hit in the game.
The Bulls were led by Monica Santos who went 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs. Juli Weber added a pair of singles and scored a run, while Aston Donovan finished the game batting 2-for-3 with a run scored.
