BURLINGTON, N.C. --- Freshman Blake Taylor shot a career-low 8-under-par 205 to lead the East Carolina men's golf team to a fourth-place finish at the 2016 Elon Phoenix Invitational Tuesday.

The Pirates carded a three round total of 2-under-par 850 (283-284-283) at the par-71, 6,867-yard Alamance Country Club to close out their fall season. They finished in the top-5 in each of their final four events of the fall.

Gardner-Webb won the team title at 22-under-par 830 (277-281-272), besting second-place Loyola (288-281-279=848) by 18 strokes. Host Elon finished in third-place at 3-under-par 849.

Taylor tied for fourth-place to earn his first career top-10 finish. He ended the tournament with a third round score of 2-under-par 69 to bring his two-day tally to 205, matching the fifth-lowest 54-hole score in school history.

Junior Tim Conover registered a final count of par-213 after shooting 1-over-par 72 Tuesday. Freshman Patrick Stephenson concluded the event at 3-over-par 216, while classmate Logan Shuping shot 4-over-par 217. Redshirt junior Jackson Spires finished one stroke behind his rookie teammate at 5-over-par 218 with senior Jack Sides trailing Spires by one stroke.

Elon's Jake Leavitt, George Mason's Eric Edwards and North Carolina's Jose Montano tied for individual medalist honors at 10-under-par 203.
