
Pirates Shine At Georgia Tech Invitational

ATLANTA --- The East Carolina men and women's swimming and diving teams posted four top-50 national times, registered 5 NCAA B cuts and set two varsity records over the weekend at the Georgia Tech Invitational.
The meet featured a total of 12 top-50 teams on the men and women's side combined.
Senior Erle Craven posted NCAA B qualifying times in the 100 and 200 breaststroke, recording the 31st fastest time in the nation in the 100 and 33rd best time in the 200. His times in each event rank as the third-fastest in school history.
Craven was one of four Pirates to qualify for the A&T Winter National Championships along with Maxime Cadiat, Victor Santos and Boleck DePawlikowski. Cadiat posted three ECU all-time top-10 marks along with six other teammates who etched their name in the record book once each.
Diver Matt Mullen set the school record on the 3-metter springboard with a score of 332.30.
On the women's side, Marion Abert set the ECU varsity record in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:46.81, which was also an NCAA B cut mark and one of the 50 fastest times in the NCAA. She also posted an NCAA B qualifying time in the 200 freestyle.
Abert and junior breaststroke swimmer Vendela Norrman each qualified for the winter nationals.
Norrman made her marks in the 200 breaststroke, posting a top-50 time and NCAA B qualifying time.
The ECU women's squad posted a total of seven program all-time top-10 marks. In addition to Abert, Yara Fakhry registered top times in two events, while Kaitlyn Hauser and Anna Svanbergsson added their names to the record book in one event each.
The Pirates made a total of 76 final swims in heats A, B and C.
