How It Happened:
ECU scored four runs in the first three innings and held on for its 27th win of the season. Luke Bolka drove in the first run of the day when he was hit by a Perez pitch in the first frame with the bases loaded. After Brown reached on a fielder's choice, Tyler and Watkins laced consecutive singles to load the bases for Bolka, who reached base twice on the afternoon.
Lamm and Brown each drove in a run in the second inning extending the Pirates lead to 3-0. Bryce Harman walked to start the stanza and moved to third when Charlie Yorgen reached on a throwing error by Ryan Noda on his sac bunt attempt. Lamm grounded out to second scoring Harman and moving Yorgen to third. Brown followed with an infield RBI single to third pushing across Yorgen.
Yorgen's RBI ground out scored Bolka from third making it a 4-0 ball game. Bolka led off with a double down the left field line and took third on Jeff Nelson's infield single. Two batters later Yorgen laced a grounder to first plating Bolka.
Mozingo's two-RBI pinch hit single extended ECU's lead to 6-0 in the sixth frame. With one out and the bases full of Pirates, Mozingo sent a full-count offering down the right field line plating Tyler and Watkins.
Cincinnati tried to make a game of it late in the ninth inning pushing across four runs on three hits. Wallace doubled home Cam Alldred for the first run and Wenzel plated Wallace with a long single to left center. Murphy pulled the Bearcats within two, 6-4, on a two-run shot off Holba to right field. Ingle entered the game with no outs and the bases empty getting a pop up, strikeout and ground out to preserve the Pirate victory.
