East Carolina closes out its 2016-17 home schedule Wednesday night when the Pirates host UCONN at 7 p.m. inside Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum. The game will be televised on ESPNU and streamed on the WatchESPN app, and can be heard throughout eastern North Carolina on WNCT 107.9-FM and the Pirate-IMG Sports Network or on the TuneIn app.

Wednesday's game will be the final home game for seniors Michel Nzege and Caleb White and graduate Andre Washington. The trio will be recognized in a pregame ceremony.

The Pirates (13-16, 5-11) will be looking to continue with its current trend in which they have not lost consecutive games in a month, alternating wins and losses the last seven games. ECU is coming off a 74-66 loss at Tulsa on Sunday.

The Huskies (14-14, 9-7)Â finds themselves with a one-game lead over Memphis and Tulsa for the No. 5 seed and a first round bye in the upcoming American Athletic Conference tournament. UConn has lost two in a row after winning seven of eight, which began with a 72-65 win over ECU on Jan. 22.

UConn has won all four meetings in the series as American Athletic Conference foes and owns a 7-1 overall advantage.

NEWS & NOTES
- ECU will look to end a two-game losing streak on Senior Night and send out its graduating class with a win for the first time since 2014 when senior Akeem Richmond led the Pirates to a win over Charlotte.
- East Carolina returns home after splitting a pair of road games last week winning at Tulane Tuesday before falling at Tulsa on Sunday, 74-66. White led the Pirates with 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting with a trio of 3-pointers.
- Assistant coach Michael Perry will serve as the Pirates' Acting Head Coach for the 11th time Wednesday, while ECU Head Coach Jeff Lebo continues to recover from hip replacement surgery on Jan. 16. There is no timetable for Lebo's return. The Pirates are 4-6 under Perry, who is in his 10th season as an assistant coach at East Carolina. Perry spent more than four years as the head coach at Georgia State before becoming a member of the Pirates' coaching staff.
- White has scored double figures in five of the last six games after scoring double digits in just two of the first 10 conference games. He's averaged 14.8 points over the last six games shooting 45.5 percent (31-68) from the field and 35.7 percent (15-42) outside the arc.
- Washington is averaging 3.6 blocks per game in conference play, swatting 57 opponent field goal attempts in 16 league games after averaging just 2.3 blocks per game in non-conference play. Washington ranks fourth in the nation blocks per game (3.0) and fifth in total blocks (87).
- Jeremy Sheppard is the top assist distributor among all American Athletic Conference freshmen, averaging 3.5 assists per game, and also ranks first among all league rookies with a 1.4 assist/turnover ratio. His 1.7 3s per game is also tied for the most among American rookies.
- Kentrell Barkley has scored double figures in a career-long 10 straight games and has been the Pirates' leading scorer 10 times in conference play. In the last 10 games, Barkley has averaged 15.3 points and 8.6 rebounds.
UPCOMING MILESTONES: Washington is four blocks shy of setting the ECU single-season record ... Sheppard, who has handed out a team-best 90 assists, is seven assists away from tying the ECU freshman season record for assists.
