
ECU Opens Spring Schedule At UCF Challenge

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina women's golf team will open the 2017 spring portion of its schedule Sunday, Feb. 5 participating in the UCF Challenge. The three-day event is being held at the par-72, 6,349-yard Eagle Creek Golf Club in Orlando, Fla.
The Pirates, who completed the fall with a 59-15-1 record and are ranked No. 42 by Golfstat, will be joined in the 17-team field by (10) Kent State, (14) Miami, Fla., (17) Texas, (20) UCF, (34) Wisconsin, (35) SMU, (38) Auburn, (40) Kentucky, (50) Clemson, (51) Iowa State, (60) Old Dominion, (70) Mississippi State, (82) Tulane, (123) UNC Wilmington, (162) USF and Daytona State.
ECU Head Coach Kevin Williams will use a lineup consisting of junior Lisa Pettersson, sophomores Catherine Ashworth, Dorthea Forbrigd and Kate Law, along with freshman Siranon Shoomee. Playing as an individual will be sophomore Carley Cox.
The 54-hole tournament begins with a 9 a.m. shotgun start on Sunday and will be followed with 18 holes on Monday and Tuesday. Pirate fans can get updated scoring on www.Golfstat.com.
