
Law Tied For Fourth At UCF Challenge

ORLANDO, Fla. ā East Carolina sophomore Kate Law carded an opening round 67 (5-under) at the UCF Challenge and currently sits in a three-way tie for fourth place. The three-day event is being held at the par-72, 6,349-yard Eagle Creek Golf Club.
Law posted a 3-under (32) on the front nine registering birdies on the third, fifth and sixth holes. On the back nine, she eagled No. 13, birdied the 14th and 16th holes before closing out her round with a pair of bogeys on No. 17 and 18 for a personal-best score of 67.
Junior Lisa Pettersson is tied for 28th after her round of 72 (32-40), which consisted of five birdies, five bogeys and eight pars. Rounding out the Pirates roster are freshmen Dorthea Forbrigd (74/t53rd) a Siranon Shoomee (75/t62nd) and sophomore Catherine Ashworth (77/t82nd). Playing as an individual is sophomore Carley Cox, who is tied for 85th after her round of 78.
In team play, host UCF (280) holds a three-stroke lead over Kentucky (283) and Wisconsin (283) followed by Auburn (284), Iowa State (285) and Mississippi State (285). East Carolina is tied for 10th with Texas after posting an even round of 288.
Second round action is slated to begin at 9 a.m. with the Pirates teeing off from holes 10 through 12.
