Team Records: East Carolina: (18-20, 2-4 AAC) | UCF: (19-16, 3-3 AAC)
Â
The Rundown
Senior outfielder Kacie Oshiro, junior infielder Meredith Burroughs and freshman utility player Logan Wood notched the only three hits the Pirates produced during the contest. Courtney Rotton drove in a pair of runs while Willow Kalinen and Kyra Klarkowski tallied two hits apiece for the visiting Knights.
Â
Senior RHP Lydia Ritchie (10-7) gave up three runs (two earned) on 10 hits with four walks and two strikeouts in her ninth complete game effort of the season. Alea White (12-10) went the distance for UCF, scattering three hits while walking one batter and striking out four.
Â
How They Scored
Autumn Gillespie worked a walk on a full count to lead off the top of the fifth before Tiffany Lower replaced her as a pinch runner and moved to second on a Linnea Goodman sacrifice bunt. Megan Greenwell followed with a bunt single to put runners on the corners, but Cassidy Brewer grounded out to Ritchie in the circle for the second out and kept the lead runner from scoring.
Â
Rotton stepped up and took two balls before delivering a two-out single up the middle that scored both Lower and Greenwell to give UCF a 2-0 advantage. A Jazmine Esparza single to shallow right field loaded the bases, but Ritchie induced a fly out to center field to escape further damage.
Â
The Knights added an unearned run in the top of the sixth thanks to a dropped fly ball in left center field to provide the contest's final margin.

The teams combined to leave 16 runners on base – 12 by UCF.
