April 28, 2017 | Women's Golf
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – East Carolina junior Lisa Pettersson has been named to the American Athletic Conference First-Team for the second-straight year the league announced Friday afternoon. She is the second Pirate to earn multiple all-conference honors following Frida Gustafsson Spang, who was a unanimous first-teamer in 2015 and 2016.
Pettersson, who was selected Thursday, April 27 to play in the Athens Regional as an individual, has recorded six Top-15 finishes with two coming during the spring portion of the Pirates' schedule. The Sweden native, who won individual medalist honors at the Pinehurst Challenge in October, claimed a share of 13th place at 2017 American Women's Golf Championships with a 4-over par 220 (73-75-72).
On the season she owns a team-best 73.30 season stroke average that ranks as the second-lowest single-season stroke average in the Pirate annals, trailing only Spang's 72.25 during the 2015-16 campaign. As a freshman she posted a 76.57 average with one Top-10 finish, in her first collegiate event at the Minnesota Invitational (224/8-over). Last year she stood second on the squad with a 74.67 stroke average and recorded six Top-15 placements (four Top 5's) on her way to unanimous first-team all-conference honors.
During her three years as a member of the golf team, Pettersson owns a 74.79 career average in 33 events, which is the second lowest in program history. She has posted one career win to go along with eight Top-5's, 11 Top-10's and 14 Top-20 finishes.
