ATLANTA – East Carolina captured its first-ever Sports Video Group (SVG)/National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) College Sports Media Award late Thursday night.
The Pirates' 'ECU Baseball: Road to Omaha' video was the recipient of the Outstanding Promotion, PSA, TEASE, or Marketing Campaign Collegiate Student Award. 'Road to Omaha' was created by recent East Carolina graduate Tyler Bailey who spent the last year working with the Pirates' marketing & fan engagement department.
"I am honored by this national recognition ECU Athletics and our creative staff have received for their work in telling our story through compelling and entertaining video," Assistant Athletics Director of Marketing & Fan Engagement Greg Herring said. "Fan engagement through digital platforms will only continue to grow and I am excited to see what our staff and students will produce next given the level to which they have raised the bar."
Director of Video Production Brian Meador was on hand to accept the award presented by ESPN's Tom Rinaldi at the ninth annual CSMA ceremony, which honors the finest in college-sports-video production.
"I did not expect this, but this is an amazing category because you see the greatness of our students at East Carolina, and I'm so glad that I get to take this back to them," Meador said. "The nominees are fantastic. I look around this room, and I see all these young folks, and it makes me realize that, for old guys like me, it's our job to promote these kids and inspire them to make a fantastic video. You just saw [the results] of that."
East Carolina was also a finalist for Outstanding Program Series with 'Cliff's Cab' but the University of South Carolina took home first place with 'Gamecock Confidential – Carolina Football: Forever to Thee.'
