GREENVILLE, N.C. – With the ECU soccer team off to its best start since the 2009 season, the Pirates will enter the Eakes Athletic Complex on the campus of Campbell University in search of their first 4-0 start in nearly two decades when they face the Camels at 4 p.m., on Thursday.
Â
ECU leads the all-time series with the Camels 10-4-1 with the last regular season match ending in a 1-0 victory for the Pirates on Sept. 21, 2014, in Greenville. ECU is 5-2 on the road against Campbell and lost 2-1 in overtime the last time they visited the Campbell University Soccer Stadium.
Â
Annah Lindberg and Courtney Cash lead the Pirates with four points apiece this season. Lindberg recorded the first multi-goal game of her career last Friday as ECU won its first road match of the season, 2-1 over Davidson. Cash has one goal and a pair of helpers with much promise after finishing her sophomore season second on the team in goals (5) and points (13). Three other Pirates have tallied goals for ECU through the first three matches.
Â
Michelle Newhouse has won back-to-back games in goal for the Pirates with a 0.50 goals against average in 180 minutes of action. She logged her first career shutout as a Pirate in ECU's 1-0 victory over Towson last Sunday.
Â
Campbell is coming off a dominant 9-0 win over Chicago State last Sunday. The Camels are 2-1 this season after losing their season opener 1-0 on the road to College of Charleston. Alexa Genas, Shannon Wratchford and Siara Southerland lead Campbell with three points each. The Camels are averaging 3.33 goals per game while allowing just 0.33. Erin Scott has logged 180 minutes allowing just one goal and making six saves. She holds a 2-1 record this season.
