GREENVILLE, N.C. – The ECU women's soccer team (5-4-2, 0-2 AAC) will play its first road match of the American Athletic Conference season on Thursday when the Pirates face Temple (4-4-1) in Philadelphia, Pa. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. at the Temple Sports Complex.

ECU is 2-0-1 all-time against Temple most recently beating the Owls, 2-1, on Oct. 27, 2016. In the only road match between the two, ECU tied Temple 0-0 after two overtime periods.

The Pirates look to snap a two-match losing streak Thursday after opening AAC play with losses to USF, 2-1, and No. 14 UCF, 4-0. Led by Courtney Cash who has a team-high five goals and 12 points, ECU is averaging 10.8 shots per game and holding oponents to a .472 shot on goal percentage. The Pirates' 4-0 loss to UCF on Sunday marked the second time this season in which they did not score a goal and the first time they were shut out in a loss.Â

Michelle Newhouse boasts a 1.17 goals against average with four shutouts this season and 39 saves. ECU has surrendered 14 goals allowing an average of 1.27 goals per match.

Temple is 4-4-1 and will play its first AAC match of the season on Thursday after having a bye week last week. The Owls are led by Gabriella McKeown and Kerri McGinley who each have three points. McGinley leads the squad with eight points while Morgan Glassford has a team-high three assists. Temple averages 16.2 shots per game and has held opponents to 13.0 shots and 1.11 goals per game. In goal, Morgan Basileo and Jordan Nash have each logged over 420 minutes. Basileo is 3-1-1 with a 0.42 goals against average while Nash is 1-3 with 23 saves.
