WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The ECU men and women's swimming and diving each captured their first win of the season Saturday topping William & Mary at the Rec Center Pool. The men (1-1) defeated the Tribe by a final mark of 136-126, while women (1-1) claimed victory by the exact same score.
Â
"It was great to pick up two wins on the road," ECU Head Coach Matthew Jabs said. "That's not an easy accomplishment, especially against a championship level team in their home pool. It was a back and forth battle all day. My hope is we learned a little something about toughness today.
Â
"William & Mary is a well-coached, and spirited group. We know every time we go up against them the energy will be intense, and the score will be tight, especially on the road. We are off next weekend, so starting Monday our focus will be nothing but training for the next 14 days.Â
Â
Freshman Marek Osina, the reigning American Athletic Conference Swimmer-of-the-Week, led the ECU men's team with three individual victories, including a pool-record performance in 200 IM (1:50.84), and aided in the 200 medley relay team's first-place finish. He also swam leadoff for the 200 medley relay team.
Â
Osina has finished first in all six individual events he has competed in this season as well as both relays.

She finished second in the 200 by 0.07 seconds despite triumphing in the 1000 freestyle the event prior, as the two races were held consecutively.
