ECU Freshmen Sweep Weekly Men's Swimming & Diving Awards

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Following a dual meet victory over UNCW Saturday, ECU freshman Marek Osina was tabbed American Athletic Conference Male Swimmer-of-the-Week for the second time this season while fellow rookie Luke Stivers was named Male Diver-of-the-Week by the league for the first time.

Osina is off to a stellar start this season, claiming first-place in all nine individual events he's competed in through three dual meets. He picked up a trio of victories Saturday against UNCW, capturing first-place in the 200 butterfly, 200 backstroke and 400 individual medley. Osina also swam leadoff for the victorious 200 medley relay team.

His time of 3:59.78 in the 400 IM versus the Seahawks on Saturday is the fastest in The American this season. Osina also ranks among the Top 3 in the 200 butterfly and 200 backstroke.

Stivers posted the best dives of his young career with an American conference-best score of 289.70 on the 1-meter springboard to earn first-place. He followed with a second-place finish on the 3-meter springboard with a score of 286.10, third-best in The American this year.

The ECU men's swimming team returns to action Saturday, Nov. 3, against Lenoir-Rhyne in Buies Creek, while the men's diving team will host the ECU Diving Invitational the same day at Minges Natatorium.
