Osina Named The American Swimmer-of-the-Week

GREENVILLE, N.C. – ECU freshman Marek Osina has been named the American Athletic Conference Male Swimmer-of-the-Week by the league's office. He finished first in all three individual events in which he competed during the Pirates' dual meet with North Carolina on Friday as well as helping the 200 medley relay team to a victory.

He opened the meet by swimming the leadoff leg of the 200 medley relay as the team won the race with a time of 1:31.01, 0:00.42 ahead of the second-place team from North Carolina.
His first individual victory at the meet came in the 200 butterfly where he clocked a time of 1:51.91, more than two seconds faster than the runner-up. The second individual win for Osina was in the 200 backstroke with a Minges Natatorium record time of 1:48.16, more than five seconds quicker than the second-place swimmer.

The final victory Osina had was in the 200 IM, touching more than two seconds in front of the runner-up with a time of 1:51.67.

Osina and his Pirate teammates will look to win their first dual meet of the season as they travel to Williamsburg, Va., where they will face William & Mary on Saturday at 12 noon.
