GREENVILLE, N.C. – After a pair of wins to open the season, the ECU women's basketball team will continue its opening home stand on Wednesday night by hosting Grand Canyon in Williams Arena inside Minges Coliseum. Â

ECU is off to a 2-0 start after home wins against Maryland Eastern Shore and Monmouth. The Pirates have been led in scoring by Raven Johnson. The sophomore from Lilburn, Ga., scored 19 points in both wins and is shooting 54.5 percent from three-point range. For her performances, Johnson earned a spot on the AAC Weekly Honor Roll. Also scoring in double figures in both contests was Lashonda Monk. Monk is averaging 16 points per game and a team-high five assists.

Against Monmouth, Destiny Campbell and Salita Greene finished with 17 and 10 points respectively. Along with shooting 7-of-9 from the field, Campbell swatted a career-high seven shots. It was the third-highest single-game block total in program history. The Pirates also forced 34 turnovers, the most since forcing SMU into 34 on Feb. 2 of last season.

Grand Canyon comes to Greenville with a 1-0 record after beating Incarnate Word 74-63. Four Antelopes scored in double figures, with AJ Cephas adding a team-high 21 points while Laura Piera notched 14 assists. Grand Canyon shot 49.1 percent from the field and 45.0 from behind the arc while holding Incarnate Word to just 33.3 percent from the field and 23.8 percent from three. Grand Canyon was picked to finish fourth in the WAC in the Coaches' Preseason Poll while Cephas and Piera were both selected to the Preseason All-WAC second team.

It will be the second all-time meeting between ECU and Grand Canyon. The first came on Dec. 14, 2013 in Annapolis, Md. Despite a game-high 30 points from Jada Payne, ECU fell to the Antelopes 86-76.
