
Santos Named The American Male Swimmer-Of-The-Week

GREENVILLE, N.C. – ECU junior Gustavo Santos was named the American Athletic Conference Male Swimmer-of-the-Week Tuesday.

Santos posted an NCAA "B" qualifying in the 100 butterfly with a first-place time of 46.16 at the Georgia Tech Invitational. His 100 butterfly time ranks No. 6 in the nation and leads the conference, as he was up against five of the nation's top-20 teams, including No. 4 Florida, No. 12 Alabama, No. 16 Virginia Tech, No. 19 Florida State and No. 20 Georgia Tech. He also helped ECU set the school record in the 200 freestyle relay (1:19.76), swimming the third leg in 19.60.
This is the first time in Santos' career receiving this honor.
The Pirates next competition is the AT&T Winter Nationals in Greensboro, Nov. 28 – Dec. 1.
