ECU Signees Compete At FINA Wolrd Championships

ECU swimming and diving signees Laura Benkova, Lyubomir Epitropov and Sara Niepelova recently competed in the 14^th FINA World Swimming Championships in Hangzhou, China. The competition was held December 11-16.

Epitropov, who will be joining the team in January from Bulgaria, placed Top 30 in the 200 breaststroke as well as competed in the 100 breaststroke. His times converted to SCY place him right behind ECU sophomore Jacek Arentewicz in those events.

Benkova and Niepelova, both natives of Slovakia, will join the ECU women's program in the fall of 2019. Benkova placed 24^th in the 800 freestyle, 25^th in the 200 freestyle and was a part of the 4x100 freestyle relay that placed 10^th and the 4x200 freestyle relay that placed 11^th.

Niepelova finished in the Top 30 in the 200 butterfly and 400 IM. She was also a part of the 4x200 freestyle relay team that placed 11^th.

ECU will return to dual meet competition on Jan. 12, 2019 at South Carolina.
