GREENVILLE, N.C. – After a pair of home wins, the ECU women's basketball team heads to Myrtle Beach, S.C., for its first neutral site games of the year as the Pirates take part in the Beach Ball Classic. ECU opens the tournament against Longwood on Wednesday night in the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.
Â
The Pirates (7-2) kept their perfect home record intact with a pair of wins this past weekend. ECU celebrated it's sixth-annual Education Day with a 66-63 win over Liberty. A record 6,276 fans turned out to see the Pirates fight back and top the Flames on a last-second three-pointer by Justice Gee. ECU followed that performance by beating USC Upstate 63-53 on Sunday afternoon. In the two wins, ECU outscored opponents 47-29 in the fourth quarter.
Â
After averaging 13.5 points (including a team-high 16 in the win over Liberty), 4.5 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals in the two wins, Lashonda Monk earned a spot on the American Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the second time this season. Monk leads the AAC in steals per game (3.8) and is 16th in scoring (13.1 ppg) and 14th in assists (3.3 apg). Salita Greene and Destiny Campbell both just missed finishing with double-doubles against USC Upstate. Greene tied her career-high with 18 points to go along with nine rebounds while Campbell finished with nine points, five blocks and a career-best 11 rebounds. Greene is currently 10th in the conference in rebounding (6.8 rpg) while Campbell is third in blocked shots (2.1 blocks per game).
Â
Longwood (1-6) have struggled this season, as the Lancers are getting outscored by an average of 18.0 points per game. Longwood is currently on a four-game losing streak, with the only win this season coming over Maryland Eastern Shore. Dayna Rouse leads the Lancers in scoring, averaging 13.3 points, while Ciarah Bennett (10.7 ppg) and Stephanie Guihon (10.1 ppg) are also averaging double figures. Mallory Odell is the top rebounder for Longwood, averaging 8.6 rebounds while Bennett has a team-best 21 assists.
Â
ECU and Longwood have met nine previous times, with ECU holding a 7-2 advantage. However, just one meeting has came since 1979, with ECU winning 73-59 in 2005. The two squads have met on neutral floors on three prior occasions, with ECU going 2-1 in those games. All-time, ECU is 111-94 in neutral site games. Last season, the Pirates went 2-3 on neutral floors, beating Rider and SMU and falling to Jacksonville State, UTEP and USF.

Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., on Wednesday night in the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. Fans can follow along with live stats here or listen to the live radio broadcast here.
