GREENVILLE, N.C. – ECU returns to the diamond for the first of six-straight home games when it plays host to Old Dominion on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at Lewis Field inside Clark-LeClair Stadium with a 4 p.m. (ET) scheduled first pitch.
THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE GAME
• ECU (6-1) comes into the contest having just claimed a series win over then No. 6 UNC notching victories in Greenville (2-1) and Chapel Hill (12-0), while dropping the middle contest in Durham (5-4) … ODU (3-4) suffered a series loss to Kansas State a home over the weekend losing the first two games (11-3, 11-5) before taking game three 11-8.
• The Monarchs own a 33-29 advantage in the series between the former Colonial Athletic Association members … The Pirates have won the last two meetings sweeping the home-and-home series in 2015 (9-7/Greenville, 4-2/Norfolk).
• For the first time this season, ECU enters a game ranked nationally … The Pirates garnered national ranking by three publications early in the week: D1 Baseball (No. 18), National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (No. 25) and Collegiate Baseball (No. 29)
PIRATE QUICK HITS (prior to game)
• Jake Kuchmaner will make his first collegiate start against ODU ... The lefty has appeared in one game allowing two runs (both earned) with two strikeouts in 0.2 innings at Campbell (Feb. 21).
• Trey Benton earned AAC Pitcher-of-the-Week honors (Feb. 26) after striking out a career-best 11 batters against UNC (Feb. 23) in six innings of work for his second win of the season ... In two starts he boasts a 2-0 record with a 1.64 ERA and has 18 Ks to 0 BBs in 11 innings.
• Jake Agnos has worked 5.1 total innings in two starts so far this season ... The lefty has fanned five, walked five and allowed five runs (our earned) on seven hits with a 6.75 ERA.
• Chris Holba earned AAC Honor Roll accolades after picking up his second win of the year at UNC ... He tossed seven scoreless innings with 8 Ks, 2 BBs and 2 Hs caring a no-hitter through 5.1 innings vs. the Tar Heels ... In two starts he has not allowed a run in 11.2 frames and has struck out 16 while waking just two.
• Spencer Brickhouse belted his team-leading third home run vs. UNC (Feb. 24) in Durham, a three-run shot ... He collected four hits and had four RBI in the three-game tilt against the Tar Heels and extended his current on-base streak to 23-straight games ... Has five career game-winning RBI (one in 2018).
• Alec Burleson has started six games posting a hit in 5 of 6 contests ... He has scored four runs and driven in three thus far ... On the bump, he has appeared in three games (one start) posting a 1-0 record and has allowed one run (unearned) in 6.0 innings with nine strikeouts and three walks.
• Connor Litton leads the team in hits (11) while standing second in average (.423) and total bases (14) ... Collected 6 hits in UNC series (two in each game) ... Tallied team-best four multi-hit games in 2018.
• Brady Lloyd leads ECU with a .500 (7-for-14) average ... Comes into the midweek game vs. ODU riding a five-game hit streak ... At Campbell, he drove in a career-best two runs and registered his second career game-winning RBI with a single in the third inning.
• Seth Caddell (.300) and Jake Washer (.353) are splitting time behind the plate ... Caddell had a career night at Campbell collecting three hits (two doubles) and scoring a pair of runs ... Washer drove in a career-high 4 runs at UNC (Feb. 25) going 2-for-3 w/2 BBs.
• Dwanya Williams-Sutton is batting .238 on the season with three RBI and a team-best eight runs ... He is the team leader in SBs (3) and HBP (3).
• ECU's starting pitching is sporting a 1.74 ERA through seven games ... They have allowed 8 runs (6 earned) on 24 hits with 41 strikeouts to just 10 walks while holding opposing hitters to a .214 clip ... The bullpen has allowed 8 runs (7 earned) with 28 strikeouts and 12 walks in 32.0 innings for a 1.97 ERA ... The pen has allowed one inherited to score (1 of 20; 5 percent).

GODWIN AT A GLANCE
• Cliff Godwin, who was named the 16th head coach in school history on June 25, 2014, was a four-year letterwinner for the Pirates from 1998-2001 … He has been a part of nine NCAA Regional and two College World Series teams at the Division I level as an assistant coach and head coach …During his three years at the helm of the program, Godwin has guided ECU to a pair of NCAA Regional berths (2015-16), a Super Regional appearance (2016), an American Athletic Conference (2015) Tournament title and a 116-74-1 (.610) overall record … Three players have earned All-America honors, five were named to the Charlottesville All-Regional Team, six took home all-conference honors (five first-teamers), seven were selected as American Player-of-the-Week, while three have been drafted by Major League Baseball teams … Named 2015 AAC Coach-of-the-Year and was inducted into the George Whitfield Hall of Fame in January of 2016 … Recently he was named to the 2018 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team staff where he will serve as the third base and hitting coach … As a player, he helped former ECU skipper Keith LeClair's teams post a 169-76 four-year ledger, including 46-plus wins in each of his final three seasons (16-16 in '99, 46-18 in '00 and 47-13 in '01) … ECU won a pair of CAA Tournament titles and advanced to the NCAA Regionals every season from 1999 to 2001 … The Pirates were the top seed in their regional all three years, including a No. 7 national seed in 2001 where they advanced to the Super Regional round before being eliminated by Tennessee.
