Pirates Remain Tied For Fifth At The American Championship

PALM HARBOR, Fla. – ECU remains tied for fifth-place after two rounds of competition at the 2018 American Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championships being held at the Innisbrook Resort & Golf Club.

The Pirates carded an 11-over-par 295 Monday to move to 19-over (292-295=587) for the tournament, sharing the fifth-place spot with Temple (296-291=587).

USF maintained its spot atop the leaderboard with a 5-under-par 279 in round two, extending its lead to 19 strokes. The Bulls are 5-under-par (284-279=563) for the championship followed by SMU in second-place at 14-over -par (290-292=582). UCF is in third-place at 16-over-par (289-295=584) followed by Cincinnati in fourth-place at 17-over-par (585).

USF's Claudio Correa leads the field at 4-under-par 138 (71-67) followed by Cincinnati's Davis Baxter (70-70=140) and USF's Cristian Di Marco (71-69=140) at even-par.

Sophomore Patrick Stephenson owns the Pirates' lowest scored with a two-round total of 3-over-par 145 (73-72) and is tied for 10th. Fellow sophomore Blake Taylor sits one stroke behind his teammate at 4-over-par 146 (74-72), tied for 14th. Senior Jackson Spires (73-74=147) is among seven players in 19th-place at 5-over-par with senior Tim Conover (72-77=149) part of a three-way tie for 29th at 7-over-par. Freshman Tim Bunten is tied for 34th at 9-over-par (74-77=151).

Final round action begins Tuesday, April 24, at 7:30 a.m. with ECU and Temple getting things started from the first tee.
