July 11, 2018 | Women's Golf
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – The ECU women's golf team was one of 25 teams recognized Wednesday by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) for having a collective GPA of 3.806, which ranked fourth nationally (out of 264 universities). This marks the third-straight academic year the Pirates were ranked among the Top 10 in the nation – their highest ever standing.
Â
This is the seventh time in program history that the Pirates have garnered a Top 25 national ranking following the 2007-08 (21st/3.531), 2010-11 (18th/3.658), 2013-14 (25th/3.635), 2014-15 (14th/3.66), 2015-16 (3.768/10th) and 2016-17 (sixth/3.840) seasons. The Pirates are joined in the Top 10 by American Athletic Conference Cincinnati, who comes in seventh.
Â
"It's exciting to continue to watch the student-athletes embrace the expectations we have for our program in the classroom and on the golf course," said ECU Head Coach Kevin Williams. "A big thank you goes out to those past and current student-athletes who created this standard of excellence and expectations within our program. To be ranked 10th, sixth and fourth in the country the last three years is pretty remarkable and makes me extremely proud of our 2017-18 team!"
Â
The University of Nebraska Omaha women's golf team has been honored as the recipient of the 2017-18 WGCA All-Scholar Team GPA Award. The award recognizes the women's collegiate golf program with the highest collective average team GPA, which includes all of the team's student-athletes for the 2017-18 academic year.
