
Oliver Adds Hawkins And Bryan To Softball Staff

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Maggie Hawkins and Kelsey Bryan have joined the ECU softball program as Director of Operations and Graduate Assistant Manager respectively, according to an announcement Monday by fourth-year head coach Courtney Oliver.

Hawkins most recently worked at The Performance Academy (TPA) in nearby Apex as Director of Softball. She was responsible for overseeing and managing all TPA affiliated softball teams as well as directing, designing and implementing all softball events run through the facility.

After graduating from NC State in 2016, Hawkins worked as a graduate assistant coach for the Wolfpack and provided assistance to the athletics communications office – including working the NCAA Raleigh baseball Regional.

As a player, Hawkins was a standout at Hofstra from 2013-14 before transferring to NC State to complete her collegiate career. She earned Colonial Athletic Association All-Freshman Team accolades in 2013 before garnering CAA First-Team and NFCA First-Team All-Northeast Region honors as a sophomore. Hawkins was a key member of the Wolfpack's run to the NCAA Eugene Super Regional in 2015, hitting the walkoff home run against Fordham in the bottom of the seventh that clinched the regional championship in Harrisonburg, Va.

Bryan recently graduated from UNCW where she started 183 games and developed into the Seahawks' everyday shortstop. As a junior, she was named the CAA Defensive Player-of-the-Year after leading the league with 136 assists and 16 sacrifice bunts. She also paced UNCW with a .342 batting average and was the team's leadoff hitter for most of the season. Her senior season, Bryan tied for second on the squad with a .297 batting average and was the recipient of the Thomas V. Moseley award given to the athletic department's top female student-athlete. She also earned the CAA Commissioner's Academic Award her sophomore through senior seasons.

In addition to her on-field accomplishments, Bryan worked as gameday operations intern with Cape Fear Community College during the 2017-18 academic year.
